Card And Board Games

There are thousands of different types of card and board games, all of which are designed with one thing in mind: For you to have fun. For those who have never purchased card or board games, there are several things that you will want to keep in mind.

Type of Game:

The beauty of card and board games is in the fact that there are many different genres of games that you can play. There are games based off of fantasy and science fiction, there are games designed to educate. There are card and board games that are based on knowledge and trivia, as well as games that are designed to embarrass your friends. There are single player games, two player games, and games that require two or more. Often, you are only limited in how many people you have in your group, or who are willing to play with you. Selecting the type of card and board games you buy can be difficult.

Game Length:

There are card and board games that can take as little as five or ten minutes to set up and play. These quick games are designed for those who just want to waste a little bit of time while waiting on friends. The average game usually lasts one to two hours. In some cases, such as Risk, Texas Hold 'Em and Monopoly, game play can last for over ten hours, dependent on the skill level of the players.

Number of Players:

When you are selecting card and board games to play with your friends, pick a game that can keep everyone involved. If you do not own a game that supports enough players, form teams so that everyone can play the game. There is nothing wrong with adding house rules to increase the number of players that can participate if the game allows. Some games, such as Monopoly, do not typically work well in teams. Other games, like Risk and its variants, can be played in teams if needed.

Space:

Many people do not often consider the amount of room it takes to play many card and board games. Before you begin to play, make sure you have enough table space for your board and all of the players to sit comfortably.

If you take your time in arranging your gaming session, you and your friends can have a great time. If you do not have friends in your area, many card and board games you love can be played online.

3-D Video Games 30 Jul 2010 at 12:36pm
The world of 3-D video games, any gamer will tell you, is almost as old as video games in color: Nintendo titles in the late 1980s like Rad Racer and 3-D WorldRunner each had 3-D modes that used red-and-blue passive eyeglasses to produce images that jumped off the screen just like 1950s-era movie monsters.

BOSTON - Sure, it was thrilling. Gallant, even. But it was still a defeat the Boston Red Sox could not afford. David Ortiz' grand slam in the ninth turned a sleepy affair into a spinetingler, but could not avert a 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park.

But Philadelphia proved it is one of the three organizations in baseball that must feed The Beast ...

John Danks carefully worked his way through the stack of envelopes, pulling his baseball card out over and over again, scribbling his name and meticulously preparing the memento for the return trip. After the emerging left-hander made it though the pile, he handed the mound of mail to a White Sox clubhouse attendant, still not completely comfortable with the whole process.

Even the line for the lone wild card spot is becoming quite crowded, and yet the Dodgers ...

What the Roy Oswalt trade means for Phillies, others 29 Jul 2010 at 4:29pm
Seven points about the Roy Oswalt trade to the Phillies: 1. This is bad news for the Cardinals, Reds and any other club thinking wild card.
