Bingo Games

Bingo is one of the most popular games throughout the world. The game rules are quite simple and anyone can play it. It was probably originated by a Lottery game called "Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia" played in Italy back in 1530. Since then bingo games have had many variations and are played all by all age groups worldwide.

Rules of bingo games:

Though there are many variations to the game of bingo, the basic rules remain the same for all. A number is called out and if they are printed on the card, they are marked. Whoever gets numbers marked in a specified pattern (usually a straight line) is the winner. They call out 'bingo' to let others known that they are the winners.

Equipments/ Accessories used in bingo games:

  • The main accessory in bingo games is the bingo cards. They are usually played on a 5 x 5 matrices with numbers on them. But the size and patterns on the card may vary depending on the variations of the game.
  • Daubers: These are nothing but markers with ink that are used to mark on the bingo cards.
  • Glue pens: these are used to fasten the cards on the table to prevent them from flying away.

Other equipments used at bingo halls are-

  • Blowers: These blow the balls in them and display one ball at a time.
  • Flash screens: These can be computer screens or digital screens that display the number that are called out.

However, none of these equipments are used in online bingo games as everything is virtual.

Terminologies used in bingo games:

  • Waiting/Caused: When someone is falling short of only one number to be stroked off their bingo card in order to complete the bingo pattern, that person is considered to be 'waiting' or 'caused'.
  • Jumping the gun: This is usually used when someone calls out 'bingo' before having a valid win. This normally happens when the person calls out bingo by using the next number in the screen before it has been called.
  • False alarm: This usually happens when a person mishears a particular number and strikes it off the card to get a specified pattern. It is also called as 'bongo'.
  • Wild numbers: These numbers allow the players to start with multiple called numbers. Normally the first ball drawn is the determining factor.

However, some of the terminologies have been replaced by new ones in online bingo.

Bingo is a game of chance. If you are lucky you can win loads of cash or prizes but if you are not you don't win anything, instead end up losing money from your pockets. But it's all in the spirit of this age old game.
