Released At Last; Final Fantasy XIII Promises An Awe-Inspiring Gaming Adventure
Thursday, March 11th, 2010Today we witness the release of one of the most highly anticipated games of the last few years; Final Fantasy XIII. This game was really first teased at way back in 2006, so the lengthy journey to launch has been staggering. Well, that wait is at last over and we will all sit down to surely what’s going to be the videogame release of the year.
Released in December over in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII has truly amassed just a little controversy since its unveling, and the evaluations received for the game haven’t quite been the straight aces developers Square Enix had been hoping for. The primary cause for this is that Final Fantasy XIII has quite extensively revised the elemental gameplay related to the franchise, and indeed the RPG style as a whole. Gone are NPCs, interactive cities and an instantly open world.
As an alternative, Final Fantasy XIII is much more linear and storyline driven. Players observe quite a tightly set path for the initial 25 hours or so of gaming. Succeeding this, the gameplay branches out and users are free to observe their very own decisions a bit more. This has been a major gripe for some, whereas others welcome the more direct and cinematic method. It actually does depend on your inclination.
One component which has been vastly applauded is the fighting system, which is made up of an impressive mesh of X and XII. Players are now encouraged to ’stack’ actions, and the more you may stack increases as you level up. Furthermore, in Final Fantasy XIII there are numerous different roles your characters can command, such as healer and tank, and users are able to swap these roles throughout fights.
It’s a forgone conclusion that the visuals in this game are awe-inspiring. Presentation has always been Square Enix’s strongpoint, and the series has always supplied top range visuals. Being the first of the series to hit the next gen consoles, Final Fantasy XIII is, for sure, the best looking videogame ever. The cut scenes are so detailed and beautiful you’ll want to stare at them all day, and the in-game graphics are enough to rival the FMVs of lesser titles.
Add an undoubtedly epic storyline, and you’ve got the most important game of the year. It may be a bit different to what you are familiar with, but overall Final Fantasy XIII is just what everybody’s been waiting for. Masterful battle, achingly stunning graphics and a promised 60+ hours of gameplay mean Final Fantasy has returned with a vengeance. Let the journey begin.
